Exploding TARDIS shirt update
The shirt is now done and hanging, it needs to dry for a solid 3 days before it goes in the washing machine (inside out, thats what the paint bottles say and who am I to argue). So with that, I have to wait til next week before I know how well the paint took to the shirt... fingers crossed!

Hand painted exploding TARDIS T-Shirt
So while I was scouting the internet looking for the pictures of my shirts I came across a couple of images of the Exploding TARDIS from the episode "The Pandorica Opens" and I thought to myself I could paint a really cool shirt with that image.... Ive seen others do it on websites such as Etsy but they charge around $50 for the shirt which I guess with how long it took to paint is fair enough, and dont get me wrong they are pretty good but being that I'm cheap and I have some painting skills I decided I would give it a go myself.
Lets not forget. I've already painted the exploding TARDIS once for my Dad on a canvas (past post: not quit Van Gogh )
Apologies for the photo quality, on my iphone it looked a lot better...
in total it took me about 3 or 4 hours, adding layers to give it that Van Gogh effect. Right now I'm just waiting for it to dry before putting on a few extra details such as the writing on the door, and giving another coat to certain areas. Once that's dry I can put the whole thing in the washing machine.
I used chalk to give a rough idea of placement then using fabric paint I got to work. The shirt cost me maybe $3 the paint less than $4 so for less than $10 I got myself a pretty cool shirt I think.... Yes another shirt for my collection....
Did you Know, we will be celebrating not only going into a new year but also that fact that two years ago on the 1st Matt Smith appeared as the Doctor for the first time, Happy 2yr Anniversary Mr Smith and a Happy New Year to everyone else...

Custom damaged Cyberman helmet
Why on Earth would you purposefully damage a Cyberman helmet? I guess you wouldn't or shouldn't that is unless your attempting to replicate the damaged Cyberman helmet from the episode The Pandorica Opens, the Cyberman was a guard that had suffered some severe damage...
So armed with an image from a copy of the Doctor Who annual, I set about making my own version first thing however I had to reverse it, the bars on the side of the head on voice changing helmet had some of the electronics so I used a little creative license, other than that I simply set about beating up my mask. So here's the final product:
The spider was just added for good measure... This now hangs on my wall along side my other voice changing helmet, and my cyber leader mask. Something else I like is that I managed to beat it up but still maintain its workability.

Not quite Van Gogh...
My Dad is to blame for my love of Doctor Who for it was him who introduced it to me, we would watch the BBC series every week. I remember more so that in November 1992 a new channel was launched on SkyTV. 'UK Gold' a station that was to show repeats of the 'classic' archive programming from both the BBC and ITV networks, and with that they began to air Doctor Who from the original 1963 William Hartnell episode 'The Unearthly Child'.
Anyway, back to the reason for this post. I wanted to share with you three paintings that I did for my Dad, firstly my Dads favorite DW bad guy was the Cybermen and so for his birthday I painted him this:

The following year for Fathers Day I painted him a Dalek:

The a couple of years ago my Dad went to Disney World in Florida and so as a surprise to him I painted the exploding TARDIS painting from the 2010 episode "The Pandorica Opens" and had it delivered to his hotel.
