"Smith hasn’t quit – just an over excitable headline.”

The British Tabloid The Daily Mirror will report in tomorrows publication that Matt Smith wants to quit, more speculation based upon the story I reported yesterday about how Smith said he doubted he would be the Doctor for much longer....

Full story here: "I can't play the Doctor for much longer"

As you can see the Daily Mirror front cover states ”I quit! Matt calls time on Time Lord, ” However the story is yet to be posted on the Mirror website.

The Beeb has already jumped on this story, denying all.

BBC Head of Communications, Sam Hodges said on Twitter: “Matt Smith hasn’t quit – just an over excitable headline.”

No doubt, they thought it would make big sales, being that the DW hype is at an all time high right now, with the series 7 premier starting tomorrow

He also added: “It’s taken from comments saying he won’t be doing it forever. He’ll be around for a good while yet.”

So nothing to worry about....

Matt Smith Says "I Can't Play The Doctor For Much Longer"

Smith says that the hard work has started to take its toll on him and he says he doesn't think he'll play the Doctor for many more years. He also claims that working on the show has given him insomnia.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, he said: "I don't think you can sustain it. Tom Baker [who previously played the Doctor] did it for seven years but he did it in different circumstances. I couldn't do this for seven years. I'd be run into the ground."

The actor is about to appear in his third season of the hit BBC show and he has admitted the job - which sees him film for 12 to 14 hours every day for 10 months a year - has started to take its toll on him and he says he doesn't think he'll play the Doctor for many more years.

"And your life outside of it is ... I don't know. I hope I don't sound too pessimistic. It's just I don't think my body or my life or the people around me could sustain it."

‘I’m not great at resting and I'm not great at sleeping. It’s infuriating, I think because I learn lines ’til late at night my brain’s still ticking. I lie in bed and think, “Oh bollocks, I can't sleep.”’

It was recently rumoured that Matt had signed the contract to stay on as The Doctor until 2014, but Matt denied this at the BFI Screening of Asylum Of The Daleks.

However, he admits that he's happy with his role. He said: "He constantly allows you to reinvent him. That's what's interesting about this year. It's about what a new companion reveals in him.

"It's like a Shakespearian tragedy, 'Doctor Who'. There's a theatre to it. Because every day you're either facing the end of the world, or the loss of the person you love the most, or the invasion of the most appalling creature or alien that you can ever imagine. But in the face of that tragedy there is also comedy. It’s about adventure."

Series 7 mystery date continues....

So today I ordered my season pass on iTunes, $13.99 for the HD $8.99 SD.

And then I noticed this:

iTunes have it that the Series 7 release date is September 1st, While BBC America Promos say September 8th so which is it?

September 1st or September 8th??

Possible Doctor Who Prequel for 'Asylum of the Daleks' Coming

According to Sarah Bartles-Smith's CV, noticed by DoctorWhoTV, there will be a prequel for the first episode of Series 7.

But not only that, she is also did work on something called "Last Day of the Ponds" which could be a DVD/Blu-Ray feature or mini-episode like with "Night and the Doctor”.

Hopefully we find out for soon, and will be able to see it shortly after.

The Series 7 Return of Doctor Who???

The question everyone is asking right now is when will Doctor Who return, we've had August 25th thrown at us, more recently it was announced the maybe September 1st however, yesterday BBC America aired a series of the new promo which can be found here: Series 7 Promo but it would seem that someone at BBC America accidently played the wrong version of the trailer.  Where as at the end of the promo it states "Doctor Who returning this fall" one of them actually stated that Doctor Who will be returning September 8th to BBC America.

Screen grab from trailer
So thats it right? Well actually it might not be....

For the rest of the day the Trailers went back to the generic version, additionally the BBC still have September the 1st scheduling open. What this could mean is that the UK will have the episode a week prior to the US.

So theres a little light at the end of this tunnel with a glimmer of hope that we now know when... But like everything else Doctor Who, its all just a little wibbly wobbly timey wimey right now!

Asylum of the Daleks - SPOILER FREE

As many will know the advance screening of episode one of series seven took place last night in London, with an all star line up as well as press and fans of the show.  Before the official screening the shows executive producer Steven Moffat asked everyone to please keep the secrets of the episode to them selves so as to not reveal anything and spoil it for those who have to wait until Doctor Who returns to our screens.

All I can say however is that Matt Smith suspects that this episode will become one of the 'cult classic' story lines amoung Who Law.

Arthur Darvill says that Asylum of the Daleks is more like a movie "They [production] just went all out, its huge, like a big Dalek movie"

"Lets make the Daleks scary again, they're not teddy bears" says Steven Moffat

But what did the media have to say, well the reviews are pouring in in todays British press with the Radio Times predicting that the “dazzlingly written” story will go down as “an all-time classic”, the Daily Telegraph have said the Doctor is “back with a bang”, adding “one huge, how-did-they-keep-that-a-secret? surprise” and a “subtly tweaked” opening credit sequence.

The adventure is “worth the wait” according to the Guardian, as the Evening Standard summaries: “Almost half a century ago the knowing yet gloriously innocent Doctor Who was the sharpest pre-watershed British TV had. Thankfully, some things never change.”

Doctor Who is due to return this fall, rumours indicate that it maybe September 1st but as yet nothing has been made official...
